Founder’s Message

My mission in life is simple: To positively impact One Million people…one at a time.
No, I’m not keeping a spreadsheet. But every life touched, every person supported, and every family uplifted is a step toward that goal.
I’ve been in business for 34 years. A few years ago, I sold one of my companies, I realized I had been given an extraordinary gift: the opportunity to focus on my life’s mission with the full support of my family.

How I’m Working Toward My Mission

  • In 2012, I founded Akua, which operates mental health and substance use treatment facilities. Every day, we help people struggling with mental health issues, addiction, and alcoholism – literally saving lives.
  • I support Pratham USA, where I serve on the Southern California Board. Pratham partners with supporters across the U.S. to fund scalable and cost-effective learning programs for under-resourced communities in India, Asia and Africa.
  • I also support the MRF, which provides essential resources and financial aid to individuals in recovery, helping them stay on the path to healing.
  • And I founded Together in Giving (TiG), a nonprofit where 100% of all money raised goes directly to charity. Every operating expense is covered by me personally. Goal is to grow with families that are a good fit and share TiG values.

TiG isn’t just about philanthropy. It’s about meaningful connection, lifelong learning, and joyful experiences with other families in the same stage of life. It’s about creating a space where giving becomes a shared adventure.

BOARD Goals for TiG:
Build a community of 100 families who are aligned with TiG’s three core pillars: GIVING, LEARNING, and FUN.
Support high-impact causes with transparency, integrity, and heart.
Foster lifelong connections among families who want to grow, give, and celebrate life together.

My Family Goals for TiG:
If even one member of my family becomes a better human through TiG, that’s a WIN.
If two of us do, that’s two WIN’s.
If three, three WIN’s.
And if all four of us grow into better people through TiG – that’s the ultimate WIN.

In my journey – from growing up with little, to building businesses, to discovering that the most meaningful work is helping others live better, fuller lives. I believe in the power of collective action to inspire change, and I’m grateful to be surrounded by others who believe the same.
